Each team will have a batting, bowling and all-rounder trophy at their disposal. Team officials (coach, manager and/or scorer and a parent representative) shall nominate players to receive these awards. A player must have played more than half of the available games to be eligible.
The players nominated will have to be confirmed by the committee and will not be eligible if they are unfinancial or have been reported to the Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association for bad behaviour, unsportsmanlike behaviour or other such offences. The method of selection shall be left in the hands of the team officials who may use total runs/wickets or averages when deciding recipients. The team officials may choose to use these trophies to reward the most consistent player in the batting or bowling disciplines even though the player may not be the best. All other players in the teams will be awarded participation trophies.
Other trophies awarded for personal achievements will be selected by the committee and will be based on statistics supplied by the clubs statistician. It is therefore essential that each team submit end of season statistics to the statistician in a timely manner. Abstracts are required to be submitted in accordance with the BNJCA guidelines and a club “spreadsheet” submitted to the club statistician at the end of the season. Statistics not received by the due date will cause players to be ineligible and the teams will receive participation trophies only. This will also apply if a team fails to submit abstracts. These awards will be at the discretion of the committee and their decision shall be final.
50 Games for the Club
This award shall be in the form of a certificate. Games for the club will start when a player commences with the club and will include games played in all age groups. This award shall be nominated by the statistician and confirmed by the committee.
1000 Runs for the Club
This award shall be in the form of a trophy. Runs will start being counted when a player starts playing in the Under 11 age group or above. A player must be playing in an age group when out is out. Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association does not start compiling statistics until Under 11’s for this reason and this club shall follow its example. This award shall be nominated by the statistician and confirmed by the committee.
50 Wickets for the Club
This award shall be in the form of a trophy. Wickets will start being counted when a player starts playing in the Under 11 age group or above. Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association does not start compiling statistics until Under 11’s and this club shall follow its example. This award shall be nominated by the statistician and confirmed by the committee.
Century, Hat Trick and 5 Wickets in an Innings Awards
These awards shall be in the form of a trophy and only Under 11 to Under 16 will be eligible. The qualifications for these awards are obvious one has to achieve the milestone. These awards shall be nominated by the statistician and confirmed by the committee.
Outstanding Junior Player of the Year (Most Valuable Junior Player)
This award shall be in the form of a perpetual trophy and a keepsake trophy given to the recipient. Only Under 11 to Under 16 players will be eligible. This award will be measured by the BNJCA point system for Player of the Round nominations and will be nominated by the statistician and confirmed by the committee. This trophy may not be presented every year and will be at the discretion of the committee. The trophy is for “outstanding” performance and it is possible to committee may not believe that any performance warrants its presentation.
Certificates may also be presented for:
- 50 Runs in an innings
- 100 Games for the club
Trophies may also be presented to juniors who achieve personal milestones such as:
- 100 Wickets for the club (based on criteria above for 50 wickets)
- 2000 Runs for the club (based on criteria above for 1000 Runs)
The club statistician shall continue to keep all results in the club database and will include purely for personal information wickets and runs for all players in the U8 to U10 age groups.
This protocol shall be effective for the start of the 2007/08 season and shall remain so until the committee creates new criteria. From the commencement of the 2007/08 season trophies will be presented on the above and will totally be at the discretion of the committee whose decision will be final.
